Associate Automation Technician
Shift: 1st Shift
Schedule: Mon - Fri, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Overtime Required, Adjustments to schedule commiserate with business needs
Location: Tucson campus (Oro Valley)

An Associate Automation Technician responsibilities include the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of manufacturing production and test equipment. This includes performing PMs and inspections on a variety of automated and semi-automated equipment, machine assembly/disassembly, and consulting with other experienced technicians when necessary to minimize downtime.
Associate Automation Technicians will also be required to recognize and elevate safety, equipment, and product problems, contributing to the achievement of production goals. Ensures all production related documentation is in compliance with quality system regulations. They must also communicate and collaborate with leadership as needed. They must have good communication and organizational skills and the ability to identify opportunities that would drive the business forward.
Responsibilities:
Safety and Quality (15%)
- Maintain Right to Operate and ensure that all processes are performed in a safe and healthy manner; Address and escalate any potentially unsafe hazards; Timely reporting of safety hazards, incidents and near misses using safety reporting tools.
- Maintain the quality system and achieve our quality objectives.
- Utilize Lockout/Tagout/Tryout (LOTOTO) procedures.
- Assists with NCR investigations, reworks, and corrective actions.
- Adheres to 95% or above internal training compliance.
Production (70%)
- Maintain and repair automated and semi-automated production and test equipment in accordance with work instructions, operating procedures, operations, manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) routines and inspections.
- Troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical issues and escalate difficult problems when appropriate in a timely manner.
- Disassemble complex automated and semi-automated equipment and remove/replace defective parts.
- Provide support to manufacturing and engineering services during routine and shutdown maintenance work.
- Respond effectively to emergencies and provide after-hours/off shift support as needed.
- Attend and participate in production tier meetings.
Continuous Improvement (5%)
- Participates in 6S activities and utilizes LEAN tools to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- May participate in the monitoring of machine data and status for trending and response purposes.
Teamwork and Collaboration (10%)
- Proactively collaborates with peers in other shifts/functions to ensure machines are able to meet production demand.
- Ability to communicate and interact with supported departments to ensure satisfactory performance of equipment, instruments, and systems.

Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED (required)
- Associates Degree in STEM field (preferred)
- 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Possess a basic understanding of industrial process instrumentation, automation, and equipment maintenance.
- Use of electrical and mechanical test equipment; for example, digital voltmeter, precision weight scale, ISO calibrator, etc.
- Ability to read basic electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic schematics, assembly drawings, and work procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electro-mechanical, pneumatic, electronic equipment and instrumentation and take corrective action.
- Effectively utilize hand tools, such as screwdrivers and wrenches, and possess a mechanical aptitude.
- Good data analysis skills with clear understanding of analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Google office productivity suite (Google Docs, Sheets, etc.) preferred.
- High degree of initiative with the ability to work under close/general supervision.
- Good communication skills and the ability to read, write and comprehend English.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Good organizational skills, planning skills and attention to detail
- Good critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good time management skills to manage multiple tasks and competing timelines
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
