Job Description:
T-7A Instrumentation Operations Technician
The T-7A Flight Test team is seeking an experienced aircraft instrumentation technician at Edwards AFB. This position will provide support in an aircraft developmental test and evaluation environment while working alongside test and aircraft maintenance personnel. Main responsibilities include installing and maintaining a high volume of sensors and associated wiring onto aircraft parts and assemblies per engineering requirements. Sensor types primarily include strain gages, accelerometers, thermocouples, RTDs, and pressure transducers. Experience with TTC data systems is desired. Other responsibilities may include:
Supports activities to plan, conduct, and document tests on products, systems, components, materials, and manufacturing processes and technologies
Designs systems, materials, components, software, and methodologies to meet customer requirements.
Participates in test design and performs routine procurement, fabrication, and assembly of components, test fixtures and test systems
Supports the coordination of test requirements and assists in reviewing test methods and capabilities.
Facilitates systems integration, fabrication, and modification; supports system pre-test setup, integration, checkout, and post test tear-down.
Conducts routine tests, analyzes data and documents results.
Troubleshoots and recommends resolution of basic laboratory and test-related problems.
This position requires at least a DoD secret clearance. This position is 100% onsite. This position may require variable shifts (1st and 2nd).
PROJECT/SKILLS
* Describe the project they will be working on: Candidate will be supporting the T-7A development test program by maintaining, modifying, and troubleshooting the installed airborne instrumentation system as required.
* Size of the Team: ~80
* Does the statement of work have any limitations on physical attributes? (Heavy lifting, long hours on feet, confined spaces, harnesses that have certain weight limits, etc.) Yes to all. This will be physical touch labor on the aircraft and in a lab
* FOR LI - will they be operating any machinery? If so, what kind? Basic hand tools and electronics (fluke meters, oscilloscope, soldering iron, etc.)
* Type of background you are looking for (education, # yrs. experience, etc.): Advanced degree (associates) in electronics desired. Experience working with airborne instrumentation systems, precision measurement devices (accelerometers, strain gages, thermocouples, flow meters, etc.) required.
Education:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor+1 years' related work experience, 5 years' related work experience, etc.).
