Contract Opportunity: Creo Product Definition Designer – Canoga Park, CA
Our client requires that candidates must have an active/current DoD Secret Personnel Clearance (PCL) to start, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Creo Product Definition Designer to support our team at a leading aerospace and defense organization based in Canoga Park, CA (Los Angeles area). This role offers the chance to contribute to pioneering technologies that support space exploration, missile defense, tactical systems, and advanced propulsion.
In this position, you will play a key role in the preparation, development, and maintenance of engineering design documentation—providing inventive and effective solutions to complex design challenges. If you’re an expert in mechanical hardware design and thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, this opportunity is for you. Key Responsibilities: Design and Documentation (40%)
Create, verify, and maintain product definition including CAD models and engineering drawings.
Develop detailed design layouts and preliminary design concepts.
Lead outsourced design efforts and ensure quality deliverables.
Engineering Calculations (30%)
Perform design and tolerance calculations to validate functionality and compliance with specifications.
Evaluate product definition elements such as tolerance stacks and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) attributes.
Project Estimation & Training (20%)
Estimate time, resources, and schedules needed to complete design tasks.
Support the onboarding and training of design team members.
Mentorship & Technical Guidance (10%)
Provide guidance and technical leadership to junior CAD designers and support staff.
Preferred Skills & Expertise:
Strong background in mechanical/aerospace hardware design.
Expert-level understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
Proficient in reading, interpreting, and creating product definition specifications.
Experience using Creo (preferably Creo 10.0) for 3D modeling and design.
Familiarity with Windchill or other PLM/CAD data management tools.
ASME Certification in GD&T is a plus.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline is preferred.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in CAD design or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
