**Security Clearance** Analyst Information System Security Officer (ISSO) - Level 2
Job Description:
The Information System Security Officer (ISSO) is responsible for ensuring that systems operate, are maintained, and disposed of in compliance with security policies and procedures outlined in the security authorization package. Key responsibilities include managing time effectively to collect and analyze audit records across multiple information system platforms as per the approved security plan. The ISSO attends technical and security training relevant to assigned compliance duties, such as operating system, networking, and security management.
Ensuring all users possess necessary security clearances, authorization, and awareness of their security responsibilities before granting system access is paramount. The ISSO promptly reports all security-related incidents to the ISSM or FSO and conducts continuous monitoring to ensure adherence to security authorization packages. Additionally, they may serve as a compliance advisory member on the Configuration Control Board (CCB).
Coordination and documentation of changes or modifications to system hardware, software, or firmware with IT and/or ISSM prior to implementation are also part of the ISSO's duties. They formally notify the ISSM of any changes that could impact system authorization and monitor system recovery processes to ensure proper restoration of security features and procedures.
Maintaining current and accessible IS security-related documentation for authorized personnel is essential. The ISSO ensures that audit records are consistently collected and analyzed in accordance with the security plan. Skills: Minimum Qualifications:
Current DoD 8570 Baseline Certification (Security+ CE, CAP, GSLC, CASP CE, CISA, CISM, or CISSP)
2+ years of experience in Microsoft Windows and/or Linux system administration
Familiarity with configuration control and change management (SCCM)
Experience with networking concepts (switches, network security, TACLANE)
Experience with security concepts (Data Loss Prevention, Active Directory, Security Log Analysis)
Commitment to continuous learning through higher education or Continuing Professional Education
Preferred Competencies:
Operating System and networking certifications
Knowledge and experience with compliance to government regulations and standards (NIST Special Publications, NISPOM, Risk Management Framework, etc.)
Direct experience supporting critical information systems within a Department of Defense (DoD) or Defense Industrial Base (DIB) company
Education:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and 3 years of directly related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
