Job Description

HVAC Lab Service Technician
Job Summary: The HVAC Lab Service Technician will be responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in a laboratory setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in HVAC systems, as well as experience with servicing and maintaining laboratory equipment. This is an opportunity to be part of the development of the next generation of heating and cooling equipment.
Key Responsibilities:

Performing routine maintenance on HVAC equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting components.
Troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with HVAC systems and equipment, then making necessary repairs.
Performing routine maintenance on HVAC equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting components.
Installing and configuring HVAC equipment, such as sensors and data loggers, for use in laboratory experiments and tests.
Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring that it is functioning properly.
Ordering and maintaining an inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
Ensuring that laboratory procedures are followed and that experiments are conducted safely.
Collaborating with engineers and technical staff to design and develop new HVAC systems and technologies.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or vocational training in HVAC is preferred.
2+ years of experience servicing and maintaining HVAC systems, preferably in a laboratory setting.
Knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment, including air conditioning, heat pumps, refrigeration equipment, and hydronic systems with pumps, valves.
Experience with laboratory equipment and instrumentation, including data loggers, pressure gauges, and flow meters.
Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose technical problems, and to make necessary repairs.
Brazing experience and ability to work with sheet metal ducting.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and perform laboratory tasks that require manual dexterity.
Must be able to lift and carry laboratory equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to work in a laboratory environment that may involve exposure to hazardous materials.
