Inspector, Assembly and Material Review
Occupation Summary
This occupation requires the inspection of assemblies and subassemblies including system installations [e.g. hydraulics, plumbing, etc.] cleaning, sealing and other installations therein. This also includes inspection of paint, peening, machining, processing, etc., of parts/assemblies in assembly areas, as well as inspection and processing of obsolete materials, parts, and assemblies for the purpose of disposition and destruction of scrap parts and materials.
Work Performed
Determines sequences of assembly and functional testing inspection on completed subassemblies, assemblies, integral tanks and major aerospace structures, working from directives, blueprints, specifications, 3D models and other standards.
Inspects layout made from blueprints, sketches and 3D models that establish exact locations and dimensions using precision measuring equipment as required. Inspects mating, fittings and installations that have been made from the above layouts for acceptable workmanship, proper functioning and completeness.
Incidental to the above, inspects fastener installations, part locations, riveting, detail parts, etc., including processing operations performed in assembly areas.
Maintains MRB containment/segregation area (crib), processes all types of rejects, responsible for the physical scrapping and disposal of scrap parts, materials and assemblies.
Performs duties incidental to the accomplishment of the assigned task.
Computer proficiency to navigate systems for labor charging, access work instructions, record completion of work, TC1, MES, PII’s, etc.
Each employee will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and housekeeping in his work area as directed as well as assuring the accuracy of their work.
Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years aircraft assembler experience and demonstrated ability to read and interpret specifications and blueprints. Demonstrated computer proficiencies in MS Office, to include PowerPoint, Excel, etc. Ability to write WT’s and to learn Catia.
1st shift, 6 AM – 2:30 PM
2nd shift 2:30 PM – 11:30 PM.
