Instrument Test Technician (Contract) – Marana, AZ Shift: 1st Shift (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, Mon–Fri) Location: On-site | Overtime Required
We are seeking a skilled Instrument Test Technician to join our production team in Marana, AZ. In this role, you’ll contribute to delivering high-quality, reliable instruments by performing critical assembly, test, and troubleshooting tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on position ideal for candidates with technical experience in regulated industries. Position Summary As an Instrument Test Technician, you'll work independently and collaboratively to perform complex setup, functional testing, and reliability evaluations of electro-mechanical instruments. You will troubleshoot test failures down to the subassembly and component level and play a vital role in identifying and escalating equipment, safety, and product-related issues. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow stringent quality standards.
This is an essential onsite role that may include work on weekends, holidays, or during emergency conditions. Key ResponsibilitiesSafety & Quality
Work in compliance with safety protocols; actively report and help address potential hazards.
Support audit readiness for OSHA, GMP, FDA, QSR, and ISO standards.
Ensure proper documentation and material traceability using validated systems.
Participate in non-conformance investigations and corrective action implementation.
Maintain 95%+ training compliance and uphold quality system standards.
Production & Technical Execution
Assemble and test electro-mechanical instruments per manufacturing records and procedures.
Utilize ERP systems (e.g., SAP) for material transactions and work order confirmations.
Conduct in-process inspections; identify and address defects proactively.
Independently troubleshoot routine test failures; assist with more complex issues as needed.
Perform basic equipment maintenance and escalate more advanced issues appropriately.
Continuous Improvement
Gather and record data for daily performance metrics.
Contribute to 6S, lean initiatives, and process standardization efforts.
Identify improvement opportunities and participate in continuous improvement projects.
Team Collaboration
Work cross-functionally with other shifts and support teams to meet production goals.
Provide on-the-job training to new technicians and share knowledge of best practices.
Collaborate on new product processes and test implementation.
Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma or GED – Required
Associate’s Degree – Preferred
Experience:
2+ years in a technical or manufacturing role – Required
Experience in a GMP-regulated environment – Preferred
Hands-on work with automated equipment, sensors, motors, cylinders – Required
Familiarity with validated software systems for quality and inventory – Required
Skills & Competencies:
Proficiency in reading and understanding English – Required
Solid organizational and time management skills
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
Experience with tools like torque drivers, multimeters, HiPot testers, and analytical scales
Capable of explaining the operation theory of instruments under test
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch for extended periods
Push, pull, lift up to 50 pounds
Perform repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements
Good visual acuity; ability to work in and around machinery
Wear required PPE (e.g., lab coat, gloves, eye/ear protection) based on area
