Materials Engineer
Location: Seattle, WA
Hourly rate: $50.00 - $55.00

Responsibilities:
• Evaluates parts, materials, processes, technology or equipment through research and testing to ensure safety, reliability and adherence to requirements and specifications.
• Analyzes failed parts and processes to reduce or eliminate future failures.
• Generates test plans, catalog test data, identifies and categorizes failures, determines root cause and documents results and recommendations as well as operating procedures.
• Proposes, develops and validates revisions to procedures and specifications.
• Determines suitability of parts, materials and processes and coordinates resolution of issues with suppliers and customers.
• Supports continuous improvement of products and processes by designing, developing, fabricating, testing, evaluating and implementing new concepts and technology.
• Provides knowledge and technical consultation to internal and external customers.
• Performs Paints and Sealants testing to analyze and develop materials with improved characteristics and properties for future and sustaining program efforts.
• Generates testing coupons, operate test equipment, conduct test activities, monitor test procedures, author test reports, and maintains compliance with laboratory safety practices.
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or Chemistry.
• 1 year of experience working in a laboratory environment.
• 1 year experience creating test plans, executing experiments, and collecting data.
• Tolerance working with and around chemicals (e.g. paints and sealants).
• Organizational skills to handle multiple program and work requests from start to finish.
• Strong ability to perform work independently as well as work well with others.
• High attention to detail, self-starter and results driven.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills, and ability to perform effectively in a team environment.
• Experience with MS Office Suite, such as Word and Excel.
• Strong technical writing skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex procedures, results, and technical conclusions.
Preferred:
• 2+ years' related engineering work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience formulating, applying, or testing aerospace or automotive multi-component with paints.
• Knowledge of structured designs of experiments, Minitab, or JMP statistical software.
• Experience with 3D printing and generating basic CAD models with Catia, Inventor, or similar software.
• Experience using a programming language, writing an Excel macro, or creating a simple robot/CNC motion patten.
Must be U.S. Person for purposes of Export Compliance.
