Material Planner
Location: Santa Clara, CA
Hourly rate: $36.00 - $41.00

Plan and purchase all required materials for Santa Clara Sequencing Cartridge Operations to meet demand within designated time frames. The position requires an individual with strong organizational and attention to detail skills. They must have initiative and be self-motivated to achieve. They must be able to work with a diverse cross-functional team. Other desirable attributes include accountability, flexibility, strong work ethic and the willingness to speak up about issues.
Experience:
• Minimum Hands-on experience of 2 years is required.
Education:
• Minimum Associates’ degree is required; Bachelors’ degree is preferred.
Description:
• Performs daily, weekly and monthly standard work (list of tasks to be completed on a regular basis) to meet all objectives.
• Places purchase orders (PO), as required, to support manufacturing and external customers. Ensures the POs are confirmed by the Supplier and expedites purchase orders per MRP.
• Purchases from complex suppliers, primarily single and sole source suppliers.
• Negotiates with suppliers to resolve problems, expedite deliveries, address quality issues, and modify purchase orders.
• Maintains accurate planning and purchasing master data on purchased materials.
• Performs routine housekeeping such as ensuring an accurate Open Order Report, updating POs to show proper delivery, sending supplier OTIF score cards, reconciling Lead Time across systems etc. to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability of supply of the raw materials.
• Analyze problems, develop and recommend solutions. Coordinate with other departments and functional areas to analyze, identify and resolve problems (including quantity discrepancies / reconciliation, invoicing issues, etc.).
• Works to improve their system of communication with each supplier and internal stakeholders.
• Confirms product availability and negotiates alternative solutions when appropriate. Interacts with external and internal customers, production planners, and warehouse staff to ensure items are made available on time.
