Seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Whole Life Systems Engineering section in Indianapolis, IN. The Senior Systems Engineer will perform specialty engineering analysis on products that may include logistics support analysis, obsolescence analysis and reliability analysis. In this role, you will influence the systems design and architecture balancing performance, safety, maintainability, supportability, testability, and cost consideration throughout the lifecycle of the product. The Whole Life Engineering function supports systems engineering activities including trade studies, use case development, requirements definition and derivation, interface definition, and requirement validation and verification. As such, Whole Life Systems Engineers interface with the other engineering disciplines to ensure integration and continuity in the design and development process.

  • The candidate is expected to live in Indianapolis area and be onsite 60% of the time.
  • Remote candidates will be considered but must be willing to be onsite 1 week per month.
  • Our client requires that candidates must have ability to obtain a DoD Secret Personnel Clearance (PCL) to start, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

This position serves as a member of the Engineering Team and supports various programs within a matrix management assignment as directed. Deliverables include, but not limited to Obsolescence management, Logistics Development Plans, Supportability Analysis, Reliability, Maintainability and Availability Analysis, Reliability Centered Maintenance activities, System Safety Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Human Factors Analysis, Packaging, Handling, Storage and Transportation (PHS&T) activities, Technical Manual development, Training Material development, technical reports, schedules, basis of estimates for new pursuits, and analyses as required to execute program life cycle engineering tasks. This position requires the ability to perform core systems engineering tasks in addition to specialty tasks when needed.

Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience.
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) degree. Note: A Masters degree in Engineering or a related Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) degree may be counted as the equivalent of 2 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience and/or ability to perform Parts Obsolescence management including DMSMS analysis in accordance with DoD SD-22
  • Experience analyzing technical data and reports to develop life cycle management recommendations and reports supporting sustainment and maintenance of products
  • Experience in statistical theory and modeling
  • Exposure to reliability modeling and prediction in accordance with MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-STD-690, MIL-STD-765, ANSI-GEIA-STD-009, or equivalent industry standards or practices.
Ability to produce DoD required analysis, such as:
o Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
o Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
o Reliability Modeling and Predictions
o Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Analysis
o Level of Repair Analysis (LORA)
o Supportability Analysis (SA)
o Technical Manual Development
o Training Material Development
  • Experience with requirements development, hardware and software development and verification.

Desired Skills:
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and project management skills,
  • Experience with product design.
  • Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (including Agile and/or Waterfall)
  • Knowledge and familiarity of MIL-HDBK-338, MIL-STD-1543, MIL-STD-189, MIL-STD-781, MIL-STD-785 or equivalent industry practices.
  • Knowledge and familiarity of MIL-HDBK-502A, US Army Regulation 700-127, AFMAN23-110 or NAVSUP P-485, etc.
  • Experience with US Government airworthiness processes (ex. MIL-HDBK-516, EDRAP) and certification boards.
  • Experience developing proposals and basis of estimates
  • Experience in multiple Systems Specialty areas such as Reliability, Safety, Human Factors, etc.
  • Experience with DOORS and Cameo
