Product Review Engineer

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Seeking Product Review Engineers to support commercial derivative airplane programs in San Antonio. We are looking for proactive individuals who can make quick engineering decisions and who want to go beyond their desk and sit the factory for hands on engineering. This position requires excellent communication and collaboration skills, partnering closely with production personnel.
The candidate will be assigned to second shift, with first shift rotations, as well as weekend or daily overtime.
This position involves daily exposure to factory environment which includes stairs, trip hazards, high noise areas, chemical hazards (breathing and handling), and entering airplanes during their many stages of build.
Responsibilities:
• Applies broad knowledge of company design and/or engineering principles.
• Assesses and resolves product/process issues through the product lifecycle. Leads research of technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by customer and designs interim and final engineering solutions.
• Leads others to analyze, conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for design non-conformances.
• Develops and implements product/process improvements.
• Uses innovative approaches and unique applications to address complex nonconforming conditions and to detect deviations.
• Analyzes reported problems for potential safety issues; recommends and manages complex resolution. Leads develop of interim and final solutions.
• Provides design phase subject matter expertise by supporting Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and participating in design reviews.
• Represents the engineering community in the build through post-production environment.
• Ensures supplier and build partner compliance with company standards.
• Develops customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment. Leads activities for on-site disabled product repair teams and accident investigation or support teams.
• Designs appropriate jacking and shoring schemes.
• Leads the design of interim structural repairs and conducts static strength analysis.
• Develops and leads non-destructive test procedures, tools and standards.
• Develops and implements technical training curriculum for internal or external customers.
• Support all Structural and/or Electrical Liaison Engineering/Design Engineering role as needed to support the Commercial, Military, and Commercial Derivative aircraft fleets on contract for modifications, storage, annual and time based life cycle checks.
• Platforms being supported will be Executive Transport Fleet comprised of 737,757, and 747. Other airframes are KC-46, 787, 777, KC-135, and B-52.
Required:
• This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires Sole US Citizenship.
• Engineering degree in any of the following majors: Aeronautical Engineering; Aerospace Engineering; Computer Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Systems Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• 5+ years of experience with the design of structural and electrical rework/repairs to restore the aircraft or system to original design capability.
• Previous Commercial Material Review Experience or Airlines.
Preferred:
• Experienced in reading/creating Engineering drawings, specifications, processes and design manuals.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience with any of the following: avionics systems troubleshooting, wire bundle installations, and aircraft electrical systems troubleshooting.
• Experienced in researching engineering designs in order to develop defect solutions to product/ process issues for production or simple technical in-service issues.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience of assisting with analyses, root cause analysis and drafting dispositions for non-conformances.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience collecting, researching, and evaluating issues for product/process improvement opportunities that may include recurrent product issues.
• Materials Review Board (MRB)/ Universal Product Review (UPR) approval authority certification.
• Executive interior installation/design experience.
• Modification & Repair experience on wide body aircraft.
Must be U.S. Person for purposes of Export Compliance.
