Job Summary: Quality Inspection Technician
Our client is seeking a Quality Inspection Technician for its Monroe, NC Additive Manufacturing facility. This role will serve as the primary quality inspector for the site and perform metrology inspection for Additively Manufactured components to ensure adhere quality standards and product specifications. This role will also manage the day-to-day operations in the metrology lab, maintenance of inspection equipment, and support various other quality assurance and control processes.
Duties:Quality Inspection Technician
Perform quality inspections for receiving, in-process and final inspection for Additively Manufactured components using advanced metrology inspection techniques experience (3D Scanner, CMM, etc.)
Lead evaluation and selection of new equipment by assessing technical capabilities, aligning with operations needs and collaborating with key internal stakeholders. Engage with OEMs for equipment demonstrations, evaluations and technical discussions.
Manage the installation, setup and qualification of new inspection equipment, ensuring quality standards are met. Lead the development and execution of validation and capabilities studies to ensure equipment is qualified for production use
Manage the coordination, review and approval of outsourced inspection activities to ensure results align with internal qualify standards and customer requirements. Act as primary point of contact for external inspection providers.
Perform First Article Inspections (FAI).
Perform Measurement System Analysis (Gauge R&R, etc.)
Operate and maintain all metrology equipment and support equipment preventative maintenance program. Support general calibration management activities as directed.
Coordinate with equipment manufacturers or outside vendors for troubleshooting, maintenance, and calibration of metrology equipment
Make decisions on acceptance/rejection and/or report any findings not covered in inspection procedures for further evaluation
Raise and record notifications of non-conformance, quarantine non-conforming product, and support containment activity.
Collaborate within a cross-functional team between material science, engineering, and planning to support and execute needed tests and documentation
Support product requirements reviews and inspection planning in coordination with Quality Engineering.
Support inventory control as directed (consumables, shelf-life monitoring, etc.)
Crosstrain on mechanical testing equipment for secondary testing support in metallurgical lab.
Follow and maintain work instructions, procedures, and standard work within the site's Quality Management System (QMS) with guidance from quality, operations and engineering functions.
Execute operations per Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) system plans (SAP and Solumina) to track production status and adhere to product/process requirements and specifications.
Must be willing and able to attend occasional Zoom meeting before or after hours to facilitate global collaboration
2+ years of experience with AS9100 or ISO 9001 standards.
Knowledge of Measurement System Analysis (Gauge R&R, etc.)
Experience with PolyWorks software or equivalent.
Experience with nonconformance investigation and root cause analysis.
Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC).
Experience using ERP and MES systems.
Experience with metallurgical lab testing and analysis equipment is a plus.
