Responsibilities - Not limited to: Senior Engineer 3
Develop concept Designs, working hand-in-hand with Designers.
Determine requirements for and develop test plans for evaluating prototype equipment.
Lead prototype testing evolutions and documenting results.
Work with Trades, Navy and outside suppliers as needed to facilitate design implementation.
Create and check Mechanical Engineering calculation packages to support ship specification requirements. Calculation packages will evaluate both operational and shock loading.
Develop changes to AWE tech manual instructions when necessary.
Conduct ship-checks to aid in Design. Ship checks may include traversing vertical ladders over multiple decks, working at significant heights, and entering tight spaces.
Work with deck-plate construction personnel to solicit and evaluate manufacturing design
Basic Qualifications: Senior Engineer 3
Candidates should have at a minimum a Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program in engineering.
3+ years' experience
Structural/Stress focus
Have knowledge and experience with FEA tools: Nastran and FEMAP preferred (They use some abacus and Ansys)
